Babe Ruth was a great pitcher.
Traditional management styles no longer apply in today's marketplace. Teamwork and empowerment have become the avenue that today's successful
companies have pursued. Effective teams achieve results far beyond what individuals could accomplish on their own. But team building is more than
putting a group of people together and hoping for the best. It is a process that must be understood and implemented properly, utilizing every team
member's strengths.
Although the Babe loved pitching and had developed his pitching skills all his life, he could only pitch about twice a week. As a fielder he was able to hit
everyday hitting was his strength and turned into a passion. Knowing he could hit everyday energized him and provided the motivation to develop his
fielding skills. His motivation was contagious to the entire team, encouraging them to hone their skills. A small change in the line-up strengthened a good
team, making them repetitive champions. Getting your players to the point they are in the right positions and working toward a common, shared goal is
the essence of teamwork.
It was not until he changed positions that he got to hit in every game!
He was an even better hitter.
